En la universidad se aprenden conceptos y se realizan prácticas que permiten mostrarte el abanico de posibilidades que se te pueden cruzar en tu carrera. Sin embargo, nada de aquello visto en el aula puede compararse con lo que aprenderías trabajando.
Claro que muchas veces, los trabajos solicitan que ya tengas experiencia y no tenés mas remedio que comenzar como un junior en cualquier pequeña empresa con lo básico que conoces de la universidad. En un principio a pesar de recibir unos pocos billetes, seguramente tomes cualquier trabajo y consumas todo el conocimiento durante los primeros meses, hasta que... ya lo sabes TODO (lo de ese trabajo) y el dinero te empieza a parecer muy poco, por lo que decides cambiar de trabajo.
Esto que menciono es un tema habitual en el ámbito de sistemas y por lo que muchos hemos pasado, saltar de trabajo en trabajo conociendo varias aplicaciones distintas. Hasta que llegará un día en el que te preguntes ¿Qué voy a hacer los próximos años? ¿Conozco mucho sobre un tema cómo para ser experto? ¿Qué debo hacer? ¿Cuál es una buena empresa para quedarme?...
Sobre estos temas encontrarás diversas opiniones, pero les cuento cual es la mía. Un trabajo debes mantenerlo mientras tengas posibilidades de aprender algo mas. En algún trabajo he pedido cambiar la posición sólo para aprender algo mas, 2 años en un puesto es el tiempo que creo justo para poder aprender todo sobre el mismo, luego deberías cambiar. Si puedes mantener la relación de dependencias con tu empleador, mejor: Si cumples cierta cantidad de años tendrás mas vacaciones; si hiciste bien tu trabajo ya no necesitarás demostrarle a nadie ni pagar derecho de piso; ya conoces como se trabaja en esa empresa; ya conoces todos los contactos, etc.
Ya pasé mas de 10 años de sistemas y conozco una variedad importante de sectores, y por suerte encontré lo que más me gusta (y espero que ustedes también lo hallen) ... el mundo ETL.
Por tal motivo, decidí dedicar parte de mi tiempo en escribir sobre el tema (ETL), no sin antes dar un pantallazo sobre algunas otras áreas para que si te interesa, no pierdas tu tiempo y busques información referida a tus preferencias.
